About the event

What are monuments for? Whose stories do they celebrate? Whose stories do they erase or get wrong? In this middle-school edition of our workshop, we'll explore statues and monuments (famous and not so famous), examine hard moments of our shared history, and use art-making to re-imagine how statues and monuments can celebrate values of community, equity, and justice.

Hands-on art-making will follow an interactive teach-in and reading of the award-winning picture book Unspeakable: The Tulsa Race Massacre.
