About the event

What are monuments for? What do they teach us about who matters? And how can we radically re-imagine monuments to lift up our heroes and reclaim our stories? Join social justice project Wee The People for the art-filled, inter-generational workshop Who Gets to Make History?

In honor of civil rights icon Martin Luther King, Jr., collage your own mini-monument to Blackness with recycled materials  -- boxes, tubes, gems, decorative paper, and wall-to-wall images of Black art, culture, history, and experience. At 1:00pm and 2:30pm, we'll gather in the Book Nook corner for a storytime reading of "The Artivist," an award-winning picture book about how kids can combine art and activism in their daily lives.

Get ready for a blast of collage creativity and monumental joy!
